Bluey Green, also known as Mitch Horton, is a talented producer and songwriter hailing from New Zealand. His latest single, Working All Night, co-written with Dave Baxter of Avalanche City, explores the stressful pace of modern life and the looming threats of burnout. As they worked on the song together, Mitch and Dave realized the importance of having a partner to share life's ups and downs with. This led them to create a heartfelt duet featuring newcomer Niamh Rhodes. The results perfectly capture the feelings of teamwork that come from building a life with someone special.
From the band
“I wrote this song with my friend Dave Baxter (Avalanche City); both of us were feeling some burnout with the hectic pace of life, and it became somewhat of a cathartic response to write a song about it. During the process, I think we realized that despite feeling overwhelmed, we were grateful to have partners we are doing it with/for and working together to build a life. I think there is something so rad about feeling like you are part of a team and looking out for each other (however that looks), and I really wanted it to be a bit of a duet to really get that feeling in the song. Niamh Rhodes is just a brilliant new talent, this was her first time in the studio, and she crushed it, one to watch out for! We also enlisted a bit of help from Tom Young (Leisure), and he added some guitars and bass that vibed it out just right. Dave also ran his magic over the mix of the track, and it was mastered by William Bowden in Australia. I think we have really honed in on more of a 'sound' on these next releases, coupled with my lyric and melody styles. It really does feel like it has a bit more uniqueness but reliability. I will be releasing an EP shortly, and I think a few more songs that are all a great little collection that Dave and I have worked on that follow the same vibe.” - Mitch Horton, Bluey Green

Warm and with a unique laid-back charm, it’s a genre-straddling blend of indie chill pop and surf rock, invoking sensations of the taste of sea spray, the shimmering of the sun on the waves, and those existential twilight thoughts that like to elbow their way in after dark. The music is a colorful journey of indie-pop sincerity featuring earnest vocals and musicianship from Horton. This summer/fall, he will release his second EP and first with the US label The Record Machine.
